Dreher Island State Park Campground

Dreher Island State Park spans 348 acres across three islands, offering campers direct access to 12 miles of scenic Lake Murray shoreline. The campground features 97 paved standard sites with water and electric hookups suitable for RVs and tents, plus 15 dedicated tent-only sites. Many sites accommodate RVs up to 45 feet, while others have a 30-foot maximum. A primitive group camping area is also available. The park provides full amenities including hot showers, restrooms, a dump station, and WiFi throughout. The tackle shop serves as the visitor center where all campers must check in before proceeding to their sites. Three boat ramps, an in-water refueling station, and proximity to excellent striped and largemouth bass fishing make this a popular destination for anglers. The park operates year-round with a minimum two-night camping stay and maximum 14-night limit. Sites accommodate up to six persons with a maximum of one RV/trailer plus one tent, or two tents per site. Pets must be leashed (six feet maximum) in outdoor areas. All firewood must originate from within South Carolina and from less than 50 miles away.

Directions

From Columbia, head west on I-26 toward Newberry. Take exit 91 for US-176 toward Chapin/Peak. Turn right onto US-176 and continue approximately 6 miles. Turn left onto State Park Road and follow signs to the park entrance.
