Dreher Island State Park Campground occupies a unique location spanning three islands on Lake Murray, providing campers with access to 12 miles of shoreline. The campground features two lakefront camping areas with 97 paved sites suitable for both RVs and tents, plus 15 dedicated tent-only sites. All paved sites include water and electrical hookups, picnic tables, and are conveniently located near hot showers and restrooms. Many sites can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet in length, while others handle rigs up to 30 feet. The park encompasses 348 acres across the islands and offers some of the best striped bass and largemouth bass fishing on Lake Murray, a 50,000-acre reservoir. The location has long been popular for major national fishing tournaments. Beyond fishing, visitors can enjoy three boat ramps for lake access, three trails for hiking, ten picnic shelters, and three playgrounds. The park also features a primitive group camping area for organized youth groups with central water and picnic tables. Located in Newberry County just 30 miles from South Carolina's capital city of Columbia, Dreher Island provides a quiet lakeside retreat with easy access to urban amenities. The park includes a Tackle Shop/Visitor Center, marina facilities, and WiFi service at select locations. All camping, camper cabin, and villa guests check in at the Tackle Shop before proceeding to their sites.
