* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...In Northeast Georgia, the following counties: Elbert, Franklin, Habersham, Hart, Rabun and Stephens. In western North Carolina, the following counties: Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, McDowell, Polk, Rutherford, Haywood, Henderson, Macon, Mitchell, Jackson, Transylvania and Yancey. In Upstate South Carolina, the following counties: Abbeville, Anderson, Central Greenville, Greater Oconee, Greater Pickens, Greenville, Greenwood, Laurens, Spartanburg, and Oconee. * WHEN...Through Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - As the remnants of Isaias move northward into the lower Ohio Valley, periods of rain will continue. High rainfall rates will continue in short bursts through the overnight hours. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Northern Greenville County in upstate South Carolina... Northern Pickens County in upstate South Carolina... * WHEN...Until 930 AM EDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams and other poor-drainage areas, including farmland, parks, greenways, boat-access areas, golf courses, underpasses, and parking lots. Isolated, shallow flows over roadways is possible. A few flood-prone, low-water crossings may become impassible. A small culvert washout or two is possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 932 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a line of torrential rainfall quickly moving from south to north across northern Pickens and Greenville counties. This rainfall is occurring on top of saturated soils due to a prolonged period of light to moderate showers that have occurred over the county since this morning. Widespread, storm-total rainfall of the 2.5-3.5 inches have fallen over the past 12 hours. The rainfall has accumulated steadily, allowing soils to slowly saturate and runoff to slowly increase, resulting in steady rises in small streams. However, this brief period of torrential rainfall is causing more rapid rises to develop, including along Eastatoe Creek near Rocky Bottom and Sunset, Oolenoy River from Sunset to Pumpkintown, Middle Saluda River from Jones Gap State Park to Cleveland, North Saluda River above the reservoir and below the reservoir near Slater- Marietta, and the headwaters of the South, Middle, and North Tyger rivers from Tigerville to Gowensville. Isolated to scattered out-of-bank conditions impacting low-lying areas adjacent to streams are likely to develop over the next 1-3 hours. - Additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms may develop over tonight and the threat will persist through the early morning hours on Sunday. These showers and storms will be very efficient at producing heavy rainfall. Soils are saturated and streams are swollen. Therefore, additional heavy rain may quickly create new areas of flooding and cause previous areas of flooding to redevelop. As a result, Flash Flood Warnings may be issued tonight. Caution is advised near any stream or other vulnerable area. Seek higher ground immediately if heavy rain develops. Please have a plan in place should flash flooding develop and do not hesitate to act. Please heed all evacuation orders from Emergency Management officials. - Some locations that may experience flooding include... Nestled in the Blue Ridge foothills of upstate South Carolina, Keowee-Toxaway State Park campground sits at the edge of Lake Keowee, offering a peaceful retreat with excellent paddling access. The park features 10 paved RV sites accommodating vehicles up to 40 feet total length, with 50-amp electrical service at all sites, water hookups, and full hookups including sewer at three sites. A dump station serves RV campers. The designated tent camping area includes 10 sites, each with an individual tent pad, picnic table, fire ring, lantern holder, water access, and 20-amp power. Restroom facilities with hot showers are conveniently located for all campers. For those seeking a more primitive experience, backcountry camping is available at three trailside sites near Lake Keowee shores, accessible by hiking trail or canoe/kayak. A group backcountry area accommodates 6-25 campers at $2 per person per night. The park offers free admission and features 5.5 miles of hiking trails, a canoe/kayak launch, WiFi, and EV charging. Pets are welcome in the campground on leashes no longer than six feet. Reservations require a two-night minimum stay and can be made up to 13 months in advance through the South Carolina State Parks reservation system.
