Keowee Toxaway State Park Campground

Open — Open year-round for camping. The park office operates on limited hours from December through March 2026 (4-5pm daily) during campground utility upgrades. Reservations require a minimum two-night stay.

Special Weather Statement issued March 23 at 2:44AM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC

2:44 AM — 10:00 PM

Dry brush and leaf litter have become very dry in recent days due to breezy conditions and low relative humidity. These conditions are forecast again today. Relative humidity will fall below 30 percent for much of the afternoon and evening hours, and wind gusts may reach 25 to 30 mph at times. Given the dry vegetation, outdoor fires will be able to spread quickly once started, increasing the danger of wildfires. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.

About

Located on the shores of Lake Keowee with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Keowee-Toxaway State Park campground offers a variety of camping options. The developed campground includes 10 paved sites with individual water and electrical hookups that can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet in total vehicle length, though larger units may have difficulty navigating the campground roads. A designated tent area features 10 sites with individual tent pads, fire rings, and central water access. All campers have convenient access to restroom facilities with hot showers. For those seeking a more remote experience, three backcountry campsites are available near the shores of Lake Keowee, accessible either by hiking the Raven Rock Trail or by paddling from the canoe/kayak launch. These sites feature combination fire ring/grill pits and require registration. The park also offers a primitive group camping area for organized groups of 6-25 people. The park provides access to hiking trails, fishing, swimming, and boating on Lake Keowee, as well as proximity to the Jocassee Gorges wilderness area.
