Located in Transylvania County where North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia converge, Gorges State Park campground sits within 8,000 acres of the Blue Ridge Escarpment. The terrain features temperate rainforest conditions with exceptional biodiversity, plunging waterfalls, rugged river gorges, and sheer rock precipices. The park boasts 26 waterfalls including Rainbow Falls and Wintergreen Falls, plus the northern boundary of Lake Jocassee. The campground spans 13 acres with 16 tent campsites, 14 RV campsites offering 20/30/50-amp electric service plus water and sewer hookups, and 5 camper cabins with A/C, heat, and sleeping for six. A modern bathhouse provides hot showers and flush toilets, with potable water spigots throughout the campground and dumpsters for trash. Firewood is available for purchase. Recreational opportunities include 56 miles of hiking trails, 17 miles of mountain biking trails, and 12 miles of equestrian trails. Backcountry camping and fishing are also available. The visitor center offers exhibits and is open daily 9am-5pm. Reservations are made through ReserveAmerica online or by phone.

From US-64 west of Brevard, take NC-281 south. Turn right onto Grassy Ridge Road and continue to the Grassy Ridge Access and Visitor Center at 976 Grassy Ridge Road, Sapphire, NC 28774.
