Gorges State Park
The campground is open year-round. Park hours vary seasonally from 7am-7pm in winter to 7am-10pm May through September. The park is closed only on Christmas Day. Reservations are available through ReserveAmerica.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of western North Carolina, including the following areas, Avery, Buncombe, Burke Mountains, Caldwell Mountains, Eastern McDowell, Eastern Polk, Greater Burke, Greater Caldwell, Greater Rutherford, Haywood, Henderson, McDowell Mountains, Mitchell, Polk Mountains, Rutherford Mountains, Transylvania and Yancey and Upstate South Carolina, including the following areas, Greenville Mountains, Northern Spartanburg and Southern Spartanburg. * WHEN...Until 2 PM EDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rainfall tapers off behind the front, but runoff from previous rainfall will keep high water levels in portions of the area. French Broad River At at Grove Bridge Rd in Blantyre affecting Henderson and Transylvania Counties. .Excessive runoff from widespread 4 to 6 inches of storm total rainfall will maintain flooding along the French Broad River. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...French Broad River at Grove Bridge Rd in Blantyre. * WHEN...Until Monday evening. * IMPACTS...At 16.0 feet, Minor Flood Stage. Farmland flooding continues on both sides of the French Broad River, especially between the river and Brevard and Pleasant Grove Roads. Floodwaters begin to impact boat access areas at Grove Bridge Rd. and Crab Creek Rd. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 6:30 AM EDT Sunday the stage was 16.0 feet and rising. - Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 16.5 to 17.0 feet by this evening. Located in Transylvania County where North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia converge, Gorges State Park campground sits within 8,000 acres of the Blue Ridge Escarpment. The terrain features temperate rainforest conditions with exceptional biodiversity, plunging waterfalls, rugged river gorges, and sheer rock precipices. The park boasts 26 waterfalls including Rainbow Falls and Wintergreen Falls, plus the northern boundary of Lake Jocassee. The campground spans 13 acres with 16 tent campsites, 14 RV campsites offering 20/30/50-amp electric service plus water and sewer hookups, and 5 camper cabins with A/C, heat, and sleeping for six. A modern bathhouse provides hot showers and flush toilets, with potable water spigots throughout the campground and dumpsters for trash. Firewood is available for purchase. Recreational opportunities include 56 miles of hiking trails, 17 miles of mountain biking trails, and 12 miles of equestrian trails. Backcountry camping and fishing are also available. The visitor center offers exhibits and is open daily 9am-5pm. Reservations are made through ReserveAmerica online or by phone.
