About

Honey Hill Recreation Area offers a rustic camping experience in the coastal plain of Francis Marion National Forest. The campground features a short loop road that meanders through an upland pine and oak forest, with well-spaced primitive sites surrounding a historic fire lookout tower that is no longer in service. This is a free, first-come, first-served campground with no reservations required. Facilities are limited to vault toilets, picnic tables, and grills at each site. There is no potable water available, so campers must bring an adequate supply. The maximum stay is 14 consecutive days. The surrounding Francis Marion National Forest offers opportunities for hiking on numerous nature trails, fishing, and exploring the diverse ecosystems of the South Carolina Lowcountry. The forest is bounded by the Santee River to the north and the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean to the east.
