Freezing Fog Advisory issued January 19 at 12:19AM EST until January 19 at 8:00AM EST by NWS Columbia SC
* WHAT...Visibility less than one half mile in freezing fog. * WHERE...Chesterfield County. * WHEN...Until 8 AM EST this morning. * IMPACTS...Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, could become slick and hazardous tonight and in the morning.
Special Weather Statement issued January 18 at 11:37PM EST by NWS Columbia SC
Lingering moisture and puddles from earlier rainfall will create patchy black ice on area roads during the overnight and early morning hours. Icy spots could form on paved surfaces such as bridges and overpasses, primary and secondary roads, parking lots, sidewalks and driveways. Some isolated areas of freezing fog are also possible overnight and in the early morning which could lead to some additional slick spots, especially on elevated roadways.
About
Cheraw State Park Campground is part of South Carolina's oldest state park, encompassing over 7,300 acres in the northeastern corner of the state. The campground features 17 sites with individual water and electric hookups on packed gravel surfaces. Sites 4 and 5 offer full hookups including sewer. Pull-through sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, while back-in sites accommodate RVs up to 34 feet. Six premium sites are located directly on Lake Juniper, the park's scenic 360-acre lake surrounded by cypress wetlands. The campground provides modern restroom facilities with hot showers and a dump station for RVs. Five designated rustic tent sites are available for those seeking a more primitive experience. Adventurous campers can access boat-in camping at the old boat landing on the north side of Lake Juniper, though drinking water is not available at this remote location. An organized group camping area with central water is also available by reservation. Beyond camping, the park offers an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Tom Jackson, extensive hiking and equestrian trails, kayak and canoe rentals, fishing from a lakeside boardwalk, and opportunities to explore the surrounding cypress wetlands. The park was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and maintains its historic character while providing modern amenities.
