About

West Morris Mountain Campground offers a rustic camping experience in the rolling hills of Uwharrie National Forest in Montgomery County, North Carolina. The campground features 14 individual campsites and 2 group campsites, all suitable for tent camping or RVs. This is a primitive facility with two vault toilets but no potable water, electrical hookups, or water hookups. Campers should bring their own drinking water and a cookstove for meal preparation. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the Uwharrie area. A 0.75-mile trail connects the campground to the 29-mile Uwharrie National Recreation Trail, one of North Carolina's premier hiking routes through the ancient Uwharrie Mountains. Hunting opportunities are available in season. A small country store is located about 3 miles away in Eldorado, and the town of Troy is approximately 15 minutes south on NC Highway 109 for groceries, fuel, and other amenities.
