About

Morrow Mountain State Park occupies over 4,700 acres in North Carolina's Uwharrie Mountains, one of the oldest mountain ranges in North America. The family campground spreads across three loops near the park office. Loops A and B offer standard tent sites without hookups, while Loop C features 22 sites with 30-amp electric service and six ADA-accessible sites. Driveway lengths range from 15 to 50 feet, accommodating RVs up to 57 feet on select sites. All sites include fire rings with adjustable cooking grills, picnic tables, and lantern hangers. Bathhouses with flush toilets and warm showers serve campers in each loop. Water spigots are located throughout the campground. The park also offers six vacation cabins, primitive backpacking sites, and group camping facilities. Lake Tillery, formed by the Yadkin-Pee Dee River, provides fishing, swimming (seasonal), and boat rentals. Over 30 miles of hiking trails wind through the steep terrain, including the popular Sugarloaf Mountain Trail with panoramic views. Reservations are available through ReserveAmerica up to six months in advance. The campground operates year-round, though water systems may be unavailable during winter months. Pets are welcome at campsites but must remain on a leash no longer than six feet and be confined to tents or vehicles during quiet hours (10 p.m. to 7 a.m.).
