About

Uwharrie Hunt Camp is a small, primitive tent camping area located in the Uwharrie National Forest in Montgomery County, North Carolina. The campground features 8 individual sites, each equipped with a picnic table, grill, lantern post, and gravel tent pad with timber framing. Two vault toilets and trash receptacles serve the campground, along with two drinking water spigots connected to the municipal water supply. The campground underwent extensive renovations completed in March 2025, funded by the Great American Outdoors Act. Improvements include a new parking lot, two pedestrian footbridges, a concrete accessibility ramp with handrail, and stairways providing direct access from parking to the campground. Campers must park in the central lot and walk to their assigned sites. Uwharrie Hunt Camp operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Payment is made on-site via fee tube and accepts cash or check only. Check-in time is 4:00 PM and check-out is 2:00 PM.
