Sonora Bridge
Open for first-come-first-served camping. The campground operates from late April through early to mid-October, weather permitting. No potable water is available; bring your own supply.
About
Sonora Bridge Campground sits at 6,300 feet elevation in a shaded Jeffrey pine forest along the West Walker River in California's Eastern Sierra. The 23-site primitive campground offers a quiet retreat for anglers targeting the river's stocked trout and travelers crossing Sonora Pass on Highway 108. The campground operates on a first-come-first-served basis with no reservations accepted. Each site features a picnic table and campfire ring, though campers should note that a free California Campfire Permit from CalFire is required for any campfire, barbecue, or portable stove use. Vault toilets are provided but there is no potable water, so visitors must bring their own supply. The campground typically opens in late April and closes in early to mid-October, depending on weather and road conditions. Dogs are welcome but must remain on leash. A nearby picnic area at Tule Lake offers accessible facilities for day use.
Directions
From Highway 395 south in Bridgeport, drive approximately 17 miles to Highway 108 at Sonora Junction. Turn left on Highway 108 and continue approximately one mile. The campground is on the left side of the road.
