Chris Flat Campground is situated just off U.S. Highway 395 in Walker Canyon, designated as a National Scenic Byway, within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The campground sits at 6,600 feet elevation along the West Walker River, which is regularly stocked with trout and provides excellent fishing opportunities throughout the season.
The campground offers well-maintained sites suitable for both tent and RV camping, with each site featuring picnic tables and campfire rings. Amenities include vault toilets, potable water available from a hand pump, and garbage service. Firewood is available for purchase from the camp host. Due to its location along a scenic byway and adjacent to quality fishing waters, this campground experiences heavy usage during the operating season.
Chris Flat serves as an ideal base camp for exploring the Eastern Sierra region, with opportunities for road cycling and river fishing. The campground is located approximately 20 miles south of Bridgeport on Highway 395, making it easily accessible for travelers. A free California Camp Fire Permit issued by CalFire is required for all campfires, barbecues, and portable stove use.
