About

Chris Flat Campground occupies a scenic stretch of Walker Canyon along US Highway 395, approximately 20 miles south of Bridgeport, California. At 6,600 feet elevation within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, the campground offers direct access to the West Walker River, which is regularly stocked with trout and draws anglers throughout the season. The 15 standard nonelectric sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump serving the campground. Garbage service is provided, and firewood can be purchased from the camp host. A free California Campfire Permit from CalFire is required for any campfire, barbecue, or portable stove use. Walker Canyon is designated a National Scenic Byway, and the campground's location along this corridor provides easy highway access while still offering a riverside camping experience in the eastern Sierra.
