About
Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort Campground is nestled along the Sol Duc River in the heart of Olympic National Park, surrounded by a lush canopy of old growth forest. The campground offers 82 tent sites and 17 RV sites that accommodate vehicles 26 to 36 feet in length. The name "Sol Duc" comes from a mispronunciation of the Quileute word for sparkling waters, discovered by settlers in the late 1800s. The first hotel was built in 1912 but burned down in 1916, with the current resort rebuilt in the 1980s. Campers have convenient access to the resort's main lodge, which features three mineral hot springs pools heated between 98 and 107 degrees Fahrenheit, plus a large freshwater swimming pool. Pool access requires a fee. Multiple hiking trails are accessible directly from the property, with the most popular being the 1.6-mile round-trip hike to spectacular Sol Duc Falls. The Lover's Lane Loop Trail offers another scenic option through dense old growth forest. During autumn, visitors can watch salmon navigate upstream at the Salmon Cascades Overlook. The campground includes flush toilets, potable water, animal-proof food storage, and an RV dump station. Each campsite features a fire ring with grate and picnic table. The resort's dining room, snack bar, gift shop, and massage services are available to campers. Sol Duc is located 28 miles west of Port Angeles and provides access to the backcountry areas of Olympic National Park.
