About
North Fork Campground is a primitive, tent-only campground nestled in the lush temperate rainforest of Olympic National Park's Quinault Valley. With just 9 first-come, first-served sites along the North Fork Quinault River, this remote location offers campers seeking solitude an authentic wilderness experience. The campground sits at the end of North Shore Road, approximately 17 miles from Highway 101. This rustic campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets and fire grates at each site, but campers must bring their own water as none is available on-site. The gravel access road is narrow and winding, making it suitable only for passenger vehicles and small trailers; large RVs are not recommended. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire pit. The surrounding old-growth forest and river setting make this an ideal base for exploring the North Fork Quinault River Trail and experiencing the park's remarkable biodiversity. Campers should be prepared for wet conditions year-round, as this is one of the rainiest areas in the continental United States. Always check current road conditions before visiting, as seasonal closures and maintenance work can affect access. The campground operates on a $20 per night fee, and all visitors must have a valid park entrance pass.
Directions
North Fork Campground is accessed via the North Shore Road along Lake Quinault. The Lake Quinault area can be accessed via Highway 101.
