About

Snyder Guard Station is a unique historic recreation rental located on the scenic Moyie River, just 8 miles south of the Canadian border in Idaho Panhandle National Forests. Originally constructed between 1906 and 1936 as a remote work station for Forest Service employees, the complex has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1982. The property spans 10 acres and can accommodate up to 70 people, making it ideal for large family gatherings, reunions, or group retreats. The facility includes seven buildings: a three-bedroom ranger residence with flush toilet, hot shower, and kitchen; two small log cabins sleeping 3-4 each (no electricity); a cookhouse seating 30; a warehouse; corrals for horses; and a machinery shed. The camping area provides six RV sites plus tent camping space, along with a 50'x30' covered picnic shelter with fireplace and grills. Vault toilets and potable water are available in the camping loop. The surrounding area offers exceptional outdoor recreation. The Moyie River provides fishing, whitewater rafting, canoeing, and kayaking. Over 70 miles of trails are open to hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and motorcyclists. The Copper Falls viewpoint trail is just a few miles away. Seasonal activities include hunting, huckleberry picking, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.
