Red Top Campground is a small, primitive campground nestled in the Kootenai National Forest northwest of Troy, Montana. Located on Highway 508 at an elevation of 3,000 feet, this quiet facility offers 3 campsites in a natural forest environment ideal for visitors seeking solitude and a true backcountry experience. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground provides basic amenities including a vault toilet, but campers should come prepared as there is no potable water on-site and all trash must be packed out. The facility is managed from Memorial Day through Labor Day, but remains accessible year-round depending on weather and road conditions. A 16-day stay limit applies. Red Top Campground is part of the Yaak River Area of the Kootenai National Forest, offering access to remote terrain and wildlife habitat. Visitors should practice Leave No Trace principles, keep pets leashed, and be bear aware as this is active bear country. Fireworks are not permitted on National Forest System lands.
