About
Smoky Mountain Campground sits at the eastern entrance of City of Rocks National Reserve, operated by Idaho State Parks as part of Castle Rocks State Park. The campground provides easy access to world-class rock climbing, hiking, and equestrian trails through the unique granite formations of the reserve. The campground contains 38 sites total: sites 1-31 are general RV campsites (9 pull-through), sites 33-38 form a dedicated equestrian loop with corrals, and sites 11 and 24 are ADA accessible. Every site has a paved parking pad, 30-amp electrical hookup, fire ring with ground grill, picnic table, and partial shade. A centrally located shower building has flush toilets and hot showers available May through September. A vault toilet at the equestrian trailhead remains open year-round. Reservations are required year-round through the Idaho State Parks system at getoutside.idaho.gov. The reserve is a pack-it-out area with no trash service. Firewood gathering is prohibited; campers must bring their own or purchase locally. Pets are allowed but must be leashed at all times.
