About

Castle Rocks State Park encompasses 1,692 acres in Cassia County, Idaho, nestled in Big Cove at the base of Cache Peak in the Albion Mountains. The park is situated within Idaho's largest pinyon pine forest on the east slope of the 7,500-foot Smoky Mountain, offering a dramatic backdrop of rock formations that date back 2.5 million years. Evidence suggests humans have been visiting this area for nearly 9,000 years, with remnants of Native American pictographs, historic trail crossings, and 20th century ranching still visible today. The park offers 37 serviced campsites with electric hookups, along with unique accommodations including a ranch house, deluxe cabin, and the Willow Glamping Yurt. Campground facilities include bathrooms with flush toilets, showers, and drinking water. The park is a world-renowned destination for rock climbing with hundreds of routes to explore, and also provides excellent opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The challenging landscape and stunning scenery make it a premier outdoor recreation destination in southern Idaho. The park is adjacent to the Albion Division of Sawtooth National Forest and approximately 1.5 miles from City of Rocks National Reserve.
