About

Located in a stunning alpine setting at 8,300 feet elevation, Lake Cleveland Campground - West Side occupies the western shore of its namesake lake in a basin beneath 9,240-foot Mt. Harrison. The campground sits near timberline surrounded by alpine wildflower meadows, with expansive views north across the Snake River Plain and south into Utah and Nevada. The West Side loop offers 9 campsites available strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site includes a picnic table, and vault toilets serve the area. There is no potable water; campers must bring their own supply. The steep terrain and very tight turnaround make this loop unsuitable for trailers and large RVs. Payment of $10 per night can be made on-site via the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature, though campers should download the app before arrival due to limited cellular service. Fishing, swimming, and non-motorized boating are popular activities on the lake. A 14-day camping limit per 28-day period applies. Motorized boats and horses are prohibited.

Directions

From Interstate 84, take exit 216 and follow State Highway 77 south approximately 18 miles through Declo and Albion to Howell Canyon Road. Turn west at the Pomerelle Ski Area sign and drive up Howell Canyon Road another 7 miles. The road is steep and winding.
