About
Sandy Beach Picnic Area sits on the southeast shores of Fremont Lake, Wyoming's second largest natural lake, just 3 miles northeast of Pinedale. At an elevation of 7,400 feet, this day-use facility offers a single group picnic site that can accommodate up to 75 guests. The area features picnic tables, grills, fire rings with benches, and vault toilets. A private sandy swimming beach provides direct lake access, while a boat ramp and dock just outside the site support various water activities. Fremont Lake stretches along the foot of the rugged Wind River Range, offering sweeping views of craggy granite peaks and pristine alpine waters. The picnic area is shaded by thin stands of aspen trees. The lake is popular for fishing rainbow, brown and lake trout, plus kokanee salmon, as well as boating, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming. Roads and parking spurs are unpaved dirt surfaces.
