About

Caledonia State Park encompasses 1,125 acres in Franklin and Adams counties along the historic Lincoln Highway (US 30), midway between Chambersburg and Gettysburg. The park offers two family campgrounds with distinct characteristics. Chinquapin Hill Campground nestles on a mountainside among shade trees close to the swimming pool, featuring non-electric sites, electric sites, and 18 full-hookup sites; pets are prohibited in this area. Hosack Run Campground is located one mile from the main day use area with moderately level, open and shaded sites, offering non-electric, electric, and 17 full-hookup sites; all sites here are pet-friendly and there's a small playground for children. Both campgrounds provide modern amenities including drinking water, flush toilets, warm showers, and sanitary dump stations. ADA accessible campsites, restrooms, and showers are available in both areas. The park offers diverse recreational opportunities including hiking on the Appalachian Trail which passes through the park, fishing in two creeks, swimming in the on-site pool, and exploring historic sites. Organized group tent camping is available for groups up to 20 people in five separate sites. The park also features the year-round Caledonia Lodge, a two-story house that sleeps ten, and hosts the Cathedral in the Pines nondenominational Sunday school, ongoing since 1917.
