About
Poplar Grove Youth Group Tent Campground provides a rustic wilderness camping experience for organized youth groups in the western portion of Catoctin Mountain Park. The facility features three group sites, each accommodating up to 25 people, with shared vault toilets and a central pavilion. Sites include picnic tables, grills, and fire circles, and firewood is available on-site. Groups may collect dead and downed wood for fires. The campground is restricted to sanctioned youth groups and organizations where at least 50% of participants are under 18 years old and currently enrolled in the organization. Adult supervision is required at all times. Each site allows two vehicles or one vehicle and one utility trailer in designated parking areas, with overflow parking at Camp Round Meadow approximately one mile away. During winter months from December 1 through mid-April, Manahan Road closes to vehicles, requiring groups to hike approximately one mile to access the campground. The tree-sheltered sites offer flat terrain for tent camping within a hardwood deciduous forest, providing scenic beauty throughout all seasons. The campground is located steps from the Catoctin National Recreation Trail, offering 25 miles of hiking opportunities.
