About

Pine Grove Furnace State Park preserves 696 acres of forested mountain terrain in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, at the northern tip of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The campground offers 70 tent and trailer sites in a classic state park setting, with modern amenities including flush toilets, warm showers, and a sanitary dump station. Some sites feature electric hookups for RV camping. The area's rich history includes a 19th-century charcoal iron furnace community whose ruins remain on the grounds. The park serves as the unofficial midpoint of the 2,190-mile Appalachian Trail, making it a popular stop for thru-hikers. The Appalachian Trail Museum is located in the park, celebrating the history of America's most famous footpath. Two mountain lakes provide swimming, fishing, and boating opportunities. A seasonal camp store operates nearby, and the park hosts events including the Fall Furnace Festival and Appalachian Trail Museum Festival.
