About

Camp Misty Mount brings together families and small groups for rustic mountain cabin camping in the Catoctin Mountains of Maryland. The historic stone and wood cabins were constructed in 1937 as part of the Works Progress Administration during the Great Depression, providing outdoor recreational opportunities for nearby urban areas. Over 85 years later, visitors can still enjoy this unique Depression-era architecture while connecting with nature. The camp features rustic American chestnut cabins accommodating 3-8 people on metal cots with vinyl mattresses. Guests should bring their own linens as cabins have overhead lighting but no electrical outlets, running water, or heat. Central comfort stations located throughout the camp provide hot showers, flush toilets, and sinks. Three dishwashing stations offer potable water. One premium cabin (Cabin 16) includes a private bathroom, kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave, making it ideal for those seeking more amenities. Recreation opportunities abound with a seasonal swimming pool featuring a chair lift and accessibility ramp, plus direct access to the Wolf Rock Trail connecting to over 25 miles of scenic park trails with stunning overlooks. Wildlife watching, bouldering, rock climbing, and fly fishing are popular activities. Pets and alcohol are prohibited, and reservations must be made in advance through Recreation.gov.
