Sleeping Giant Picnic Shelter is a reservable pavilion facility located within Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, Connecticut. The shelter measures 22 x 60 feet (approximately 1,300 square feet) and features a partially enclosed design with stone walls that provide both shelter and rustic charm. The facility is equipped with 8 picnic tables and 2 working fireplaces inside the pavilion, with 2 additional grills available. The shelter is designed to accommodate groups of up to 50 people, making it ideal for family gatherings, reunions, and small celebrations. The picnic shelter is handicapped accessible and located approximately 300 feet from restroom facilities and parking areas. The park itself is situated on a distinctive traprock mountain ridge and offers scenic hiking trails with views of the surrounding Connecticut landscape. Renters can use the shelter from 8:00 a.m. until one half-hour before sunset. The facility does not have electricity or running water inside the pavilion. Reservations can be made through Reserve America with a $220 rental fee plus a $9 non-refundable reservation fee. The park is open year-round from 8 a.m. to sunset, though shelter reservations follow seasonal availability.

From Route 10, turn onto Mount Carmel Avenue at the light. The park entrance is on the left, across from Quinnipiac University at 200 Mount Carmel Avenue.
