Sleeping Giant Picnic Shelter is a day-use facility within Sleeping Giant State Park, situated in the scenic hills of Hamden, Connecticut. The covered pavilion offers a partially enclosed stone structure ideal for family reunions, company picnics, and group celebrations. With a capacity of 50 people, the 22 x 60 foot shelter provides 8 picnic tables, 2 charcoal grills, and 2 working fireplaces. This is strictly a day-use rental and does not permit overnight camping. Guests may use the shelter from 8:00 a.m. to one half-hour before sunset, with everyone required to depart before dark. No electricity or running water is available inside the pavilion. Restrooms and parking are located approximately 300 feet from the shelter. Alcoholic beverages are permitted at this location. Amplified sound systems, DJs, inflatable bounce houses, and confetti or rice scattering are prohibited. The shelter rental is $220 plus a $9 reservation fee, available from Memorial Day through Columbus Day. Reservations can be made through Reserve America or by phone.

From Route 10, turn onto Mount Carmel Avenue at the light. The park entrance is on the left, across from Quinnipiac University at 200 Mount Carmel Avenue.
