About

Black Rock State Park Campground sits in the rolling Western Highlands of Connecticut, spanning 444 acres of pine, hemlock, and oak forest on the Watertown-Thomaston border. The 78 campsites range from tent-only to standard non-electric, with maximum trailer lengths of 20-35 feet depending on the site. Four rustic cabins are also available during peak season. All sites include a fire ring, picnic table, and grill. Two full bathhouses offer flush toilets, hot showers, and dishwashing stations, with potable water taps and a dump station on site. The campground is positioned within walking distance of a swimming beach, fishing pond stocked with brown trout, rainbow trout, and largemouth bass, and a recreation field. The Mattatuck Trail network offers hikes ranging from 30-minute strolls to all-day treks with scenic views. Note that pets are not permitted in the campground and alcohol is prohibited throughout the park.

From Route 8 north, take Exit 38 and turn left at the end of the exit ramp. At the first traffic light, turn left onto Echo Lake Road and proceed one mile to the park entrance.
