Wharton Brook Picnic Shelter is a day-use facility located within Wharton Brook State Park in North Haven, Connecticut. This is not a campground; overnight camping is not permitted. The facility offers three covered picnic pavilions available for reservation, each accommodating up to 36 people for group gatherings and events. The surrounding 96-acre state park centers around the 5-acre Allen Brook Pond, which features a sandy swimming beach during summer months. The park is one of Connecticut's 11 designated Trout Parks, offering seasonal fishing opportunities. Additional activities include hiking on marked trails and nature observation. Amenities at the picnic shelters include ADA-accessible restrooms, grills, picnic tables, and potable water. Amplified music, bounce houses, and other play equipment are not allowed. Park admission is free, though parking fees are collected at the gate and a non-refundable $9 reservation fee applies to shelter rentals.
