Southford Picnic Shelter is a day-use rental facility at Southford Falls State Park, not an overnight campground. The 1,100 square foot octagonal shelter can accommodate up to 50 people and includes six picnic tables and two grills, making it suitable for family reunions, group picnics, and cookout events.
The shelter is located within the 169-acre Southford Falls State Park, which features a tiered waterfall, a covered bridge, an observation tower, a two-mile trail network, and Paper Mill Pond, one of Connecticut's designated trout stocking locations. The park is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until sunset.
This facility does not permit overnight stays. Renters may use the picnic shelter from 8:00 a.m. to one half-hour before sunset only. Reservations are required and can be made through Reserve America. The rental fee is $150 plus a $9 processing fee, with availability from Memorial Day through Columbus Day.
Directions
From I-84, take Exit 16. At both east and west ramps, turn left onto Route 188. Follow to junction with Route 67. At traffic light, turn left onto Route 67. At the next light, turn right back onto Route 188. Southford Falls State Park is 0.5 miles on the left at 175 Quaker Farms Road.
