About

Slate Creek Campground is a free BLM campground located on the west side of the Green River, approximately four miles south of Fontenelle Reservoir. The campground provides designated camping sites in a dispersed setting with two ADA accessible vault toilets, picnic areas, and direct fishing access to the Green River. The location is ideal for birdwatchers, as it sits between Fontenelle Reservoir to the north and the renowned Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge to the south. The area is rich in wildlife viewing opportunities and offers excellent fishing on the Green River. Historic resources are present in the vicinity, and visitors are asked not to collect or damage these resources. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. The typical camping season runs from May through September, though conditions vary year to year. Access to the campground is via Highway 372 on the west side of the Green River. The Kemmerer Field Office manages this area, which is subject to seasonal winter range closures affecting motorized vehicle access from January 1 through April 30 to protect big game during harsh winter months.
