Skyline Campground

Open — Reservations are only accepted May 1 through September 30. During the off-season, the campground may operate on a first-come-first-served basis with limited services.

About

Skyline Campground is one of 12 camping areas at Guernsey State Park, positioned on elevated terrain above the reservoir. Unlike the waterfront campgrounds on the west side of the park that offer electric and water hookups, Skyline operates as a more primitive camping area with first-come-first-served sites. The campground provides basic amenities including pit toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. The hilltop location offers sweeping views of Guernsey State Park and the surrounding Wyoming landscape, though campers should note that most sites are on sloped ground with limited flat areas for tent camping and minimal shade. The campground provides access to approximately 14 miles of restored Civilian Conservation Corps trails that wind through the park, offering scenic overlooks of the reservoir and dam. Guernsey State Park showcases exceptional examples of CCC architecture from the 1930s, including the Guernsey Museum and the Castle at Brimmer Point. The park also provides access to nearby Oregon Trail historic sites, including the famous wagon ruts and Register Cliff, where 19th-century emigrants carved their names into the sandstone.

Directions

From Guernsey, Wyoming, head west on Lake Side Drive for approximately 2 miles. Turn right onto Skyline Drive and continue for about 1 mile to reach the campground.
