About

Davis Bay campground is situated within Guernsey State Park, a 6,227-acre park surrounding the picturesque Guernsey Reservoir in Platte County, Wyoming. The reservoir was created by Guernsey Dam on the North Platte River and offers excellent fishing for walleye, channel catfish, and yellow perch along with boating and swimming opportunities when water levels permit. This is a primitive campground with basic amenities typical of Guernsey State Park's smaller camping areas. Each site includes a fire ring with grill and a picnic table. Vault toilets are available nearby. Unlike the Sandy Beach and Sandy Point campgrounds on the west side, Davis Bay does not offer electric or water hookups at individual sites. The park features historic Civilian Conservation Corps structures from the 1930s, hiking trails, and the famous Oregon Trail Ruts National Historic Landmark nearby. Be aware that the reservoir is subject to an annual silt run, typically after July 4th, which can significantly reduce water levels and restrict water recreation activities.

From Guernsey, Wyoming, head north on US-26 for about 1 mile, then turn left onto Wyoming Highway 317 (Guernsey State Park Road). Follow the park road to the Davis Bay campground area.
