Guernsey Yurt Area

Open

Open for the season. Yurts operate April 15 through October 15. Stage 1 fire restrictions are currently in effect. Water systems and dump stations close October 1 for winterization.

About

The Guernsey Yurt Area offers a unique camping experience at Guernsey State Park, a 6,000-acre park surrounding Guernsey Reservoir in eastern Wyoming. Four yurts are positioned on the west side of the park off Castle Road, providing views of the reservoir. Each yurt accommodates up to six guests with two bunk beds and a fold-out futon couch, all with mattresses provided. The yurts are equipped with wood-burning stoves for heat and solar power that runs interior and exterior lights plus a ceiling fan. There are no electrical outlets inside. Each site has an outdoor deck, picnic table, fire ring, and charcoal grill. Guests share nearby vault toilet facilities and should bring their own toilet paper. Potable water and shower facilities are available in the park. The park offers extensive water recreation on the reservoir, though water levels can vary and an annual silt run typically occurs after July 4th. The area features CCC-era stone architecture and the Guernsey Museum operates May through September.
