Skull Hollow Campground
Open seasonally from March 15 through November 15, weather permitting. First-come, first-served only with no advance reservations. No potable water available. Dispersed camping is prohibited outside the campground boundaries.
About
Skull Hollow Campground offers 70 primitive campsites on the Crooked River National Grassland in central Oregon. Situated southeast of Haystack Reservoir with views of Gray Butte, the campground serves as a convenient base for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding on nearby trails. Smith Rock State Park, renowned for world-class rock climbing, is easily accessible from the campground. Each campsite features a wooden picnic table and combination fire ring/grill. Three vault toilets serve the campground, and an on-site host is available during the operating season. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. No hookups or dump facilities are available. A closure order prohibits dispersed camping outside the established campground boundaries to protect natural resources and reduce conflicts between campers and day users. The 14-day stay limit applies to all National Grassland lands.
