About

Shikellamy State Park encompasses 132 acres divided into two sections at the confluence of the North and West branches of the Susquehanna River in central Pennsylvania. The 50-acre Marina Section occupies the southern tip of Packers Island in Northumberland County, providing close-up river access with a marina, two boat launches, paved walking paths, and picnic facilities with pavilions. The 190-acre Overlook Section in Union County sits atop a 360-foot cliff on the western shore of the Susquehanna River, offering three scenic overlooks with commanding views of the river confluence. This section features hiking trails and additional picnic facilities. The overlook road is closed seasonally from October through April. The park offers diverse recreational opportunities including fishing in the Susquehanna River and Lake Augusta (a 3,060-acre lake formed by an inflatable dam), boating, hiking, biking, and wildlife watching. Both sections feature picnic pavilions available for reservation. The park is open year-round for day use from sunrise to sunset, though certain facilities and sections operate seasonally. All Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission laws apply to fishing and boating activities.
