Ravensburg State Park
Closed — Closed for the season. Opens the first Friday in May and operates through the last Sunday in September. All sites are first-come, first-served with no reservations accepted.
Special Weather Statement issued December 29 at 10:14PM EST by NWS State College PA
Strong westerly winds and moisture streaming off the Great Lakes has generated heavy bands of lake effect snow that will impact portions of I-99 in Centre County, I-80 between mile marker 140 and 190, as well as roadways in Cameron, Clinton, and Potter counties for the next few hours. Bands of lake effect snow can quickly reduce visibility and cause rapid accumulations of snow. The reduced traction and blinding visibility of a snow band can make travel very dangerous very quickly. Use extra caution if you must travel tonight and encounter bands of heavy snow, slow down and consider exiting the highway. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads may lead to accidents. Please use extreme caution and allow plenty of stopping distance. Avoid braking suddenly.

* WHAT...West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. * WHERE...A portion of central Pennsylvania. * WHEN...Until noon EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
About
Ravensburg State Park is a small, rustic camping destination in central Pennsylvania's Clinton County, featuring 21 tent-only campsites in a peaceful forested setting. Several campsites are positioned along Rauchtown Run, a mountain stream that provides soothing sounds and fishing opportunities for brook and brown trout. The campground offers modern amenities including flush toilets and hot showers, while each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The park is surrounded by the expansive 215,000-acre Tiadaghton State Forest, providing ample opportunities for exploration. The Mid State Trail passes through the park, and hikers can access Castle Rocks, a distinctive sandstone formation created by erosion and frost action that resembles ancient castle towers. The park's gorge setting showcases the natural beauty of Pennsylvania's central region. Ravensburg operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations accepted, making it ideal for spontaneous camping trips. The intimate size and primitive tent-only camping experience appeal to those seeking a more authentic outdoor experience away from larger, more developed campgrounds.
