About

Sheppard Point campground sits on the shores of Heyburn Lake in Oklahoma's scenic Sandstone Hills, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The campground offers a mix of tent-only sites and RV sites with 30-amp electric hookups, including one ADA-accessible site. A unique feature is the availability of equestrian-friendly sites with tether poles behind the sites and direct access to the multi-use trail system. The campground provides a boat ramp, swim beach, playground, and group picnic shelters. Heyburn Lake is a popular destination for fishing catfish, bass, and crappie, as well as water skiing, boating, and swimming. The surrounding landscape is forested with oaks, blackjack, hickory, ash, elm, and cottonwood trees, with flowering wild plum and redbud adding spring color. The campground is located in the picturesque setting of grasslands and gently sloping wooded hills, offering access to hiking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing. Nearby attractions include other Heyburn Lake parks such as Sunset Bay, Overlook, and Heyburn Park, with Keystone Lake about 20 miles north and Tulsa less than 30 miles northeast.
