Sheep Mtn. Day Use Area

Open — Closed for the winter season. Reopens in May and operates through September.

About

Sheep Mountain Day Use Area sits within Buffalo Bill State Park along the shores of Buffalo Bill Reservoir in the Absaroka Range of northwestern Wyoming. This day-use facility caters primarily to group gatherings with its large covered picnic shelter equipped with multiple tables and a grill. The area includes a playground for children and a volleyball court for recreation. With substantial parking capacity, it accommodates large groups and events. The location provides access to the North Fork River for fishing and offers views of the surrounding mountains including Rattlesnake Mountain, Cedar Mountain, and Carter Mountain. The Sheep Mountain area is part of the park's redevelopment following the raising of Buffalo Bill Dam, and the group shelter is available for reservation through park headquarters. Restroom facilities are available on-site when the area is open.
