About

Shawnee Bend Park is a year-round recreation area on Harry S. Truman Lake, nestled in the rolling hills and rocky bluffs of the Ozark Plateau. The park features two nonelectric group picnic shelters available for reservation through Recreation.gov, each accommodating up to 48 people with grills, picnic tables, and parking for up to 25 vehicles. The area is popular for water-based recreation. A sandy swimming beach and playground make it ideal for families, while the boat ramp provides access to Truman Lake's 950 miles of shoreline. The lake is renowned for fishing, with approximately 8,800 acres of standing timber left to provide quality aquatic habitat for crappie, bass, walleye, paddlefish, blue and channel catfish. Wildlife such as whitetail deer, turkey, hawks, ospreys, and eagles can be observed in the surrounding mature oak, hickory, and cedar forests. Day-use fees are required for beach and boat ramp access.
