Harry S Truman State Park Shelters

Open — The shelter is available for reservation year-round through the Missouri State Parks reservation system.

About

Harry S Truman State Park's reservable picnic shelter is located on the eastern end of this 1,440-acre peninsula jutting into Truman Lake. The open shelter can accommodate up to 130 people, making it perfect for large family gatherings, reunions, and group events. The day-use area features numerous shaded picnic sites equipped with tables and grills. The shelter is situated within a park that offers exceptional lakeside recreation. Clear waters and dramatic bluffs characterize the surrounding landscape of open oak woodlands, natural grasslands, and lakeside areas. Nearby amenities include a sand swimming beach with changehouses, a fully equipped marina offering boat rentals and supplies, two-lane boat ramps, and hiking trails. The park's location on a peninsula surrounded by water on three sides provides ample opportunities for fishing and wildlife viewing. Reservations for the shelter can be made through the Missouri State Parks reservation system up to 12 months in advance. The park is operated by Missouri State Parks on land leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which manages Truman Lake and the nearby Truman Dam visitor center.
