Seven Points Picnic Shelters

Closed — Closed for the season. The facility typically operates from April through late October.

Special Weather Statement issued April 12 at 4:55AM EDT by NWS State College PA

4:55 AM — 6:00 PM

The combination of drying fine fuels and leaf litter, low relative humidity of around 35 percent and a southerly wind gusting between 20 and 25 mph during the late morning and afternoon hours, will create an elevated risk of wildfire spread across the southern half of Pennsylvania today. Residents are urged to exercise caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery, cigarettes, or matches. If dry grasses and tree litter begin to burn, the fire will have the potential to spread rapidly. For more information about wildfire danger and wildfire prevention and education, please visit the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources website at http://dcnr.pa.gov/Communities/Wildfire.

About

Seven Points Picnic Shelters offers five reservable shelters within the Seven Points Recreation Area at Raystown Lake, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The shelters—Allegheny, Dogwood, Oak, Pine, and Redbud—each accommodate up to 80 people with approximately eight picnic tables and 20-amp electrical outlets. Each shelter is unique in location: Allegheny sits atop a hill with sweeping lake views, Dogwood and Redbud are near a sand volleyball court, Oak sits along the shoreline near the beach, and Pine is located near the Visitor Center. All shelters include adjacent playgrounds and horseshoe courts, with potable water hydrants and waterborne restrooms within 100-250 yards. The Seven Points Recreation Area features a public beach for swimming, boat ramp for lake access, and proximity to attractions like the Allegrippis Trails and Mountain Bike Skills Park. The shelters are popular for family picnics, birthday parties, and group gatherings. When not reserved, shelters are available first-come, first-served.
