About
Seven Devils Campground offers a quiet, primitive camping experience in a cool subalpine forest of fir and spruce near the Hells Canyon Wilderness boundary. The campground features 9 tent-only sites arranged along a loop road, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and parking spur. Vault toilets are provided, but campers must bring their own drinking water as none is available on site. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the Seven Devils Mountains. Seven Devils Lake is a short walk away, providing opportunities for fishing, photography, and enjoying the area's renowned wildflower displays during summer months. The surrounding Hells Canyon Wilderness offers extensive day hiking opportunities, though motorized vehicles, bicycles, and other mechanical equipment are prohibited in the wilderness. Access to the campground requires navigating Forest Road 517, which is very steep and narrow. Low-clearance vehicles, RVs, and trailers are strongly discouraged. The road can be slippery when wet or frozen and is not recommended for trailers in late fall and winter conditions.
Directions
From Riggins, Idaho, travel south on Highway 95 for 1.3 miles to Seven Devils Road (becomes Forest Road 517). Turn right and continue 17 miles to the Forest Road 517/517B intersection.
