Iron Phone Junction Campground is a primitive equestrian camping area situated in the rugged backcountry of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests along Road #241. This small facility features four campsites equipped with fire rings and hitching rails, making it ideal for horse camping and pack trips. The campground is located approximately 11 miles west of Highway 95 north of Riggins, Idaho. This is a pack-in, pack-out facility with no services provided. Visitors must bring their own water, as none is available on-site. A vault toilet is provided for convenience. The remote location offers no cell phone service and exemplifies the wild character of the surrounding landscape. The area serves as a staging point for horseback riding and backcountry exploration in this rugged section of the national forest. There are no fees to camp at Iron Phone Junction. The campground is open year-round, though winter snow may make Road #241 impassable during colder months. Campers should be prepared for primitive conditions and practice Leave No Trace principles.
