About

Mabel Lake Campground is a secluded USFS campground located in the Chippewa National Forest, offering 22 campsites in a primitive setting with a beautiful sandy beach. The campground provides a more rustic camping experience with hand pump water and vault toilets. The surrounding forest is abundant with wildlife, making it an excellent destination for nature enthusiasts. The nearby North Country National Scenic Trail offers opportunities for day hiking, while the Boy River provides excellent paddling conditions for viewing eagles, osprey, and waterfowl. The campground's remote location, 26 miles east of Walker, makes it an ideal base for those seeking a peaceful retreat in northern Minnesota's lake country. The campground operates on a seasonal basis and offers both first-come, first-served and reservable campsites through Recreation.gov. Sites cost $14 per night, with a 50% discount available for Interagency Senior/Access Recreation Pass holders.
