Sanford Yake Campground occupies a scenic position on the caprock rim above Lake Meredith in the Texas Panhandle. The elevated location provides sweeping views of the lake below, though access to the shoreline is steep and difficult. The area near the dam is one of the busiest spots in the recreation area, with a boat ramp, fishing dock, and bait shop nearby. The campground offers 51 total sites. Ten RV sites feature electric hookups (50, 30, and 20 amp) and water connections, available by reservation through the concessionaire. The remaining 41 sites are primitive and operate on a free, first-come, first-served basis. All sites have access to paved roads and pull-through parking accommodates larger rigs. Facilities include restrooms with flush toilets, showers, and potable water that operate year-round. Picnic tables, shade shelters, and grills are provided throughout the campground. A dump station is located nearby. Pets are permitted but must remain leashed at all times. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive days within any 30-day period, with an annual limit of 60 days.

Directions

From Amarillo, take Loop 335 North, exit onto Highway 136 North toward Fritch. From the east side of Fritch, exit Highway 136 on Eagle Boulevard. Turn north on Fritch Fortress Road and follow about 3 miles to High Plains Road, turn right. High Plains Road intersects Sanford Yake Road, keep left and follow Sanford Yake Road to the campground.
