About
Rosita Flats is a dispersed camping area situated along the Canadian River in the southern portion of Lake Meredith National Recreation Area. This primitive camping destination doubles as one of two authorized ORV-use areas in the park, making it popular with off-road enthusiasts looking to camp near their riding terrain. The campground operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees or reservations required. Approximately 75 sites are scattered throughout the area, with several locations suitable for RVs and trailers. Amenities are extremely limited: there is no potable water, no toilets, and no hookups. Trash collection and recycling services are provided, but campers should come fully prepared for primitive conditions. ORV operators using the area must have a state of Texas Off-Highway Vehicle decal and wear DOT-approved safety gear. The access road is unpaved, which may present challenges for some vehicles and limits accessibility. Campfires are permitted in existing grills and fire rings only. The Texas Panhandle climate brings cold, windy winters and hot, dry summers, so visitors should prepare accordingly.
