About

Harbor Bay Campground is located at the southern end of Lake Meredith National Recreation Area in the Texas Panhandle, accessed via Lakeview Drive off Highway 136 near Fritch. The campground features 25 sites available on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required or camping fees charged. Campers can choose between designated sites with amenities or open meadow camping, both offering flexibility for various camping styles. The paved road through the campground accommodates RVs and trailers of various sizes. The area is equipped with picnic tables, shade shelters, grills, and vault-evaporator toilets. Campers must bring their own drinking water as none is available on-site. Campfires are permitted in existing grills and rings only. The campground serves as a trailhead for two notable paths: the Harbor Bay Trail and South Turkey Creek Trail, with the Turkey Creek Trail currently hikeable for one mile before becoming submerged. Harbor Bay's location on Lake Meredith makes it ideal for water activities including boating, fishing, and swimming. The surrounding landscape offers excellent opportunities for birding and wildlife viewing across the Texas Panhandle's characteristic terrain. The area can become extremely crowded during summer holiday weekends. Weather in the region varies significantly, with cold, windy winters and hot, dry summers, though wind remains common year-round.
