About
Harbor Bay Campground is located on the southeast shore of Lake Meredith National Recreation Area, accessed via Lakeview Drive off Highway 136 outside Fritch, Texas. The campground features both designated campsites and open meadow camping areas, providing flexibility for tent campers, RVs, and trailers. Facilities include picnic tables, shade shelters, grills, and vault-evaporator toilets. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. The area serves as a trailhead for two hiking trails: Harbor Bay Trail (5.23 miles total) and South Turkey Creek Trail. Note that Turkey Creek Trail is currently accessible for only one mile, with the remainder underwater due to lake conditions. The campground is popular for water activities, hiking, biking, and birding in the Texas Panhandle landscape. Camping is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. Fires are permitted only in elevated above-ground grills and existing fire rings. Pets must remain on leash at all times. Trash dumpsters are available, though campers may also pack out their waste. The nearest dump station is located at Fritch Fortress or Sanford-Yake.
