About
Chimney Hollow Campground is one of the most remote and primitive camping options at Lake Meredith National Recreation Area in the Texas Panhandle. Located near Blue West, this small campground is tucked into the Blue Creek embankment, which provides welcome protection from the region's prevailing winds. With only 3 campsites, it offers a quiet, off-the-grid experience for campers seeking solitude. As a primitive campground, amenities are minimal. There are vault-evaporator toilets on site, but no potable drinking water or showers. Campers must bring all their own water. Some sites have picnic tables. The campground is free of charge and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required or accepted. The Texas Panhandle experiences extreme weather variations: cold, windy winters and hot, dry summers. Even in summer, bringing a jacket is advisable due to persistent winds. Lake Meredith is the largest body of water within a 200-mile radius, offering boating, fishing, and hiking opportunities nearby.
