About

Cedar Canyon Campground offers a unique beach camping experience at Lake Meredith National Recreation Area in the Texas Panhandle. This small cove lies between Fritch Fortress and Sanford-Yake campgrounds, providing access to one of the largest bodies of water within a 200-mile radius. Unlike traditional campgrounds, Cedar Canyon features open beach camping without individual designated sites, giving campers flexibility in choosing their spot along the shoreline. The campground provides basic amenities including restrooms with flush toilets and potable water located in the parking lot. Large cottonwoods offer shade, and campers enjoy beautiful lake views. Campfires are permitted only in elevated, above-ground grills and existing fire rings. Dead wood found on the ground may be gathered for fires. Quiet hours are observed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Camping is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive days within any 30-day period, with a 60-day annual limit. The unpaved road through the campground can become soft during rainy conditions, so visitors should drive cautiously. RVs and trailers are allowed, though the beach terrain may present challenges.
