About
Fritch Fortress Campground sits atop a scenic caprock bluff with panoramic views of Lake Meredith in the Texas Panhandle. Located on Fritch Fortress Road within Lake Meredith National Recreation Area, this campground provides a comfortable base for boaters, swimmers, and campers exploring the area. All 15 sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with no camping fees. The campground offers excellent amenities for a National Park Service facility, including flush toilets, hot showers year-round, and potable water. Each site features a picnic table, shade shelter, and grill, with campfires allowed in existing rings and grills only. A dump station and trash collection are available on-site. The paved road through the campground makes access easy, and pull-through parking accommodates RVs and trailers of various sizes. Fritch Fortress provides convenient access to Lake Meredith's water-based recreation while offering a more developed camping experience compared to the area's dispersed camping options. The Texas Panhandle experiences cold, windy winters and hot, dry summers, so visitors should prepare accordingly. Cell phone reception is available at the campground.
