About

Sandy Bottoms Recreation Area Campground sits on the shore of the Tallulah River in the Chattooga River Ranger District of Chattahoochee National Forest. The 13 developed sites are shaded by various hardwood species and provide a rustic experience for campers seeking river access without hookups or modern amenities. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post. The campground has a centrally located vault toilet and trash bins. Drinking water is provided via hand pump during the operating season. The Tallulah River offers swimming and stream fishing for trout, though anglers must carry a valid Georgia fishing license with trout stamp. Day hiking and scenic viewing round out the recreation opportunities. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 PM to 6 AM. Generators are permitted only between 6 AM and 10 PM, limited to four hours per day. ATVs, UTVs, and golf carts are prohibited. Firewood may not be transported from other locations.
