The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels, which is in effect from noon today to 7 PM EST this evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * AFFECTED AREA...Rabun, Habersham, Stephens, Franklin, Hart and Elbert. * TIMING...This afternoon into early evening. * WINDS...Northwest 10 to 15 mph; with gusts as high as 20 to 25 mph. * HUMIDITY...Values as low as 20% are expected during the afternoon. * FUEL MOISTURE...10-hour fuel moisture expected to fall below 10% this afternoon. * IMPACTS...With elevated winds and low relative humidities, extremely dangerous fire weather conditions are possible. Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Located within the Chattahoochee Wildlife Management Area and veiled by the Mark Trail Wilderness, Low Gap Campground is a 13-site developed campground that offers as close to a dispersed camping experience as you can get with amenities. This secluded campground is best known for its opportunities for camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, and simply enjoying the natural world. The campground is named for Low Gap Creek that flows through the area. This creek is stocked with trout weekly from April to July by the Georgia DNR. The area provides access to scenic views and is near several waterfalls accessible via FS 44 Road. Popular nearby hiking destinations include the Appalachian Trail, Raven Cliff Falls, Dukes Creek Falls, and Anna Ruby Falls. The Chattahoochee River headwaters in the Mark Trail Wilderness also offer fishing opportunities. Low Gap Campground is located only a few miles from Helen, Georgia, where visitors can enjoy additional activities including rafting, swimming, and exploring the alpine village. The campground sits at 1,840 feet elevation in the Chattahoochee National Forest, an area rich in history and known as a hiker's paradise with its winding trails, scenic mountains, and rolling hills.
Directions
From Helen, GA, head north on GA-17 N/GA-75 N for 1.3 miles. Turn left onto GA-75 Alt N and go 0.1 miles. Take the first right onto Chattahoochee River Road and go 4.4 miles to the campground on the left.
