About
Sandbeach Campground is the primary campground within the Sand Lake Recreation Area, located in Siuslaw National Forest between Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda on Oregon's North Coast. The area encompasses 1,076 acres of open sand dunes surrounded by coastal forest and adjacent to the Pacific Ocean, making it a premier destination for off-road vehicle riding. The campground offers 81 standard nonelectric sites with paved parking aprons, flush toilets, potable water, campfire rings, and picnic tables. An OHV loading ramp provides convenient access to the dunes. The nearby Sand Lake Estuary offers additional recreation including fishing, swimming, crabbing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing in its 900-acre near-natural habitat. During summer season (May through October), all sites require reservations through Recreation.gov. Winter season (November through April) opens select sites to first-come, first-served camping, with payment via credit card machine at the West Winds Campground parking lot. A State of Oregon OHV permit is required for riding.
